….our Hair-Brained Adventure 🌵

“I want to go on a field trip” says the munchkin.

“A field trip?! Where?” I ask.

“the Grand Canyon” the munchkin tells me while shoving his iPad into my hands and showing me photos he had found on a google search.

“ Oh no, not another one of your hair-brained adventures” my dad says rolling his eyes. 🙄😒

Up to this point the munchkin and I hadn’t really taken a “summer vacation” and as far as I knew we could fly to Las Vegas, Nevada and do a quick helicopter ride to see the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam.

“Do you want to go with us Dad?”

“No” he says not even breaking a smile.

I began to do research on the best ways to experience the Grand Canyon and what to expect when I came across a blog post that recommended “just doing the South Rim”.

Okaaay 😳

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon happens to be in Arizona. At this point I’m confused 😐 and pretty much ready to give this whole idea up when I remember hearing something about energy vortexes also being in Arizona (Sedona).

How close will this be to the South Rim? I thought to myself 🤔.

Our plans to travel during the “off season” meant traveling to Arizona during the month of August which happens to be that areas “rainy season”, where, according to several websites it rains (only a handful of days out of the entire month) very heavily for few hours in the afternoon.🤨 For some reason I thought it would be (equally) cool for the munchkin to experience the Grand Canyon on foot and see what the desert looks like when it rains. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Road Trip!!! 🚘

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon was only a few hours drive from where we ended up staying, which was in Cottonwood (just outside of Sedona because it’s cheaper 😬).

Turns out Cottonwood was just a short drive from another rather interesting place in Arizona as well. 😏
